Sheep Care Guide
The well-being of their sheep is an important consideration for all sheep producers. This Sheep Care Guide was developed to serve as a reference for the sheep producer using a variety of management and production systems and has been written in recognition of an ethical responsibility for the humane care of animals. It is not intended to be an exhaustive review of all aspects of animal care; supplemental information on such topics as breeding, feeding, housing, predation, health, and management is available in other publications including those listed in the References section.
ASI designed the Let’s Grow initiative to ensure that the U.S. sheep industry is sustainable for future producers of lamb and wool. Increasing production efficiencies at the farm gate will assist in the sustainability of the industry’s infrastructure.
Let’s Grow has funding available to be used by producer groups to advocate the Let’s Grow mission, which is to support, promote and ensure the U.S. sheep industry’s future through the development of innovative and sustainable initiatives that increase the productivity, profitability and growth of the American sheep industry, which will further enhance domestic wool and lamb production
The funds are designed to remove current barriers that have historically prevented sheep producers from adopting these technologies.
